Very sadly, we lost Zessa on June 29, 2013.

Hidden Orchard Landprinzessin(Zessa)
Born July 13, 2011, bay filly, with star, stripe and snip, 2 white socks
By the Hanoverian stallion,  Landkönig (photo free jumping below right, description below) X
Estevan (Escudo 1)

Born two weeks late, "Zessa" finally arrived on July 13, 2011, at 7:45 pm. Within 15 minutes of birth, she was standing, a beautiful, leggy filly, and within another 10 minutes was nursing, without problem. Zessa is an incredibly sweet, easy to handle filly that loves people and attention and learns very quickly. Leading in a halter at two days old, she has not looked back.

On September 1st, 2011, at just over 6 weeks of age, Zessa was presented at the Hanoverian foal inspection in Ontario, Canada. Zessa was the youngest foal presented but behaved beautifully. She led easily on and off the trailer and handled an almost four hour trailer ride without problem. While waiting her turn in the arena, she ate and slept in the show stall with her dam.  For the inspection, she was, of course, bathed and braided. She stood very well and we were very proud of her excellent behaviour. Photos of Zessa at the inspection are below.

Zessa received very good comments, with the judges commenting that she was a very well developed filly with a muscular hind end, which they indicated is very good for a jumper bred foal. They also said she had a very good trot, was of very good type and we were congratulated for presenting a very nice filly.

Zessa’s pedigree is chock full of jumping talent, with Escudo 1 on her dam line (see Estevan on the Broodmares page) and Landkönig (see description below).

LandkonigLandkönig (Landadel/Landsknecht (Lasso)/Gotthard) is a 16.3H, bay, elite Hanoverian stallion, 4 socks, a star and snip. Landkönig completed his 100 day test at Adelheidsdorf as a three-year-old and was 7th out of 50 with 118.10 points overall and a 9.5 for stadium jumping, 8's for willingness to work, character, temperament and the walk. Overall balanced on his jumping and rideability scores. The Hannoveraner Jahrbuch Hengste 2005 lists Landkönig with a jumping breeding value of 132 putting him ahead of Ritual, Drosselklang, Espri, Escudo II, Grosso Z and many other top German Grand Prix producers. Landkönig is in fact the highest rated jumper listed, standing in the U.S. listed in the 2009 Stallion yearbook with a jumper breed value of 135 and 140 for ability, slightly higher than super producer and 2007 stallion of the year Argentinus.

Zessa’s movement is quick and light, she is able to stop, spin and gallop off into another direction very easily. Zessa loves being brushed and is handled daily, cross-ties and is great for the farrier. We believe that with her movement and pedigree, Zessa will be a top-level jumper prospect.

Update: We lost this foal to a still birth in June 2013

February 2012:

We are extremely thrilled to have purchased a breeding to the newly imported Hanoverian stallion, Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger will be bred to Aviary for a 2013 foal.

Schwarzenegger standing.jpgschwarzenegger dressage.jpg

Schwarzenegger was born in Verden, Germany in 1997. He is a 17h black/brown in colour with four white socks and a small star by Sion X SPS Caprice (Calypso II).  In his stallion performance test in Redefin, he scored an impressive 125,24 points. This score placed him 3rd overall out of 22 stallions. His integrated breeding value estimation is 122 for Dressage and 114 for jumping.  His temperament and character impressed the judges with a score of 9 and 10 respectively. In his offspring he tends to improve the canter with a 120 as well as the jumping manner and scope with a 128. He also throws his wonderful mind and kind expression making very rideable offspring.  He has offspring competing in both advanced dressage and advanced jumping classes. His offspring are known for their super basic gaits, fantastic trainability/rideability, and the tendency to show talent for both dressage and jumping.

For more information on Schwarzenegger, check out his webpage at:  http://www.aileronstables.com/schwarzenegger.php
