modified:November 23, 2011)
Breeders of quality Hanoverians and Canadian Warmbloods, Hidden
Orchard Farm has been highly successful at accomplishing their goal
of breeding athletic youngsters, with excellent temperaments that
are highly competitive in the hunter/jumper, dressage and eventing
disciplines.
We believe that developing our horses’ minds and abilities is
extremely important, thus we work daily with our youngsters and
expose them to the show ring from the time they are only a few weeks
old. Our broodmares have excellent pedigrees with top European
Hanoverian bloodlines and they pass on their excellent temperaments
and athleticism to their foals. We carefully pick sires with the
best bloodlines to complement our mares and the results speak for
themselves (see News/Show Results).
Our pricing is as follows:
Weanlings: starting from $8,500 CDN
Yearlings: starting from $10,000 CDN
Two year olds: $12,000 CDN

2011 foals for sale:

Hidden Orchard Coraggio (Thor )
Born May 8, 2011, bay colt, expected to turn gray, with
star
By the Holsteiner stallion, Chablis 1 Z (above) (Corrado
1) X Aviary (Arkansas)
Born on Mother’s Day - May 8th, 2011, Thor is
an eye-catching colt by Chablis 1 Z X
Aviary. Thor is
bold, with powerful, athletic movement. He is handsome,
with a great “look at me” presence and loves people and
attention. Thor is long-legged, with lovely movement, a
long stride, easy natural changes and a ground covering
trot. Thor is going to be a big boy, as he measures
12.3h at just under 4 months of age. Thor
is very well handled and attended his first show, the
Summerfest Breeder’s show on July 31, 2011. He finished
fourth in his class and was extremely well-behaved.
Thor loaded and trailered very well and was extremely
easy to deal with at the show. Several people commented
on how quiet and laid back he was. In preparation for
the show, Thor was bathed, cross-tied and braided and
handled everything exceedingly well.
Bred to be a top hunter/jumper prospect, Thor’s lineage
represents the best of the best in show jumping. His
sire, the gray Holsteiner stallion Chablis I Z was
licensed in 2004 by the Holsteiner Verband in Neumunster
where he excelled because of his remarkable jumping
qualities. Chablis 1 Z has shown to 1.40m in the jumpers
in Ontario and California.
Thor’s
grandsire Corrado I was shown internationally by
the great Frankie Sloothaak. Under Frankie Sloothaak,
Corrado I won the biggest show in the world, Aachen,
setting the stage for his superstar jumping career.
Corrado I has the proven cross of Cor de la
Bryere and Capitol in his pedigree. Cor de
la Bryere is respected as one of only a few elite
stallions ever to produce such rideable horses for all
the Olympic disciplines and the Capitol line adds
level-headedness.
Currently asking $8,500 (+HST for Canadian residents)
for this special colt.

Aviary, Thor’s dam, has produced
offspring competing
successfully in the jumper ring in the US and Canada.
Belle Nuit, her filly by Beau Soleil, has been jumping
in 1.35m classes and in September 2010, Belle Nuit won
the $10,000 Marshall Sterling Children’s and Adult
Jumper Classic at the ESP show in Wellington, Florida.
This is her second year competing at Spruce Meadows in
the full tournament schedule and she represented Mexico
on the Prix de Nations junior team in 2010. Aviary’s
filly, Wieta, shown as German Engineered, has been
showing in the 1.15m and 1.20m junior amateurs in Quebec
“A” circuit shows and also qualified for the CET Medal
class at the Royal Winter Fair in 2010.

Hidden Orchard Landprinzessin
(Zessa)
Born July 13, 2011, bay filly, with star, stripe and
snip, 2 white socks
By the Hanoverian stallion, Landkönig
(below) X
Estevan
(Escudo 1)
Born two weeks late, Zessa finally arrived on July
13, 2011, at 7:45 pm. Within 15 minutes of birth,
she was standing, a beautiful, leggy filly, and
within another 10 minutes was nursing, without
problem. Zessa is an incredibly sweet, easy to
handle filly that loves people and attention and
learns very quickly. Leading in a halter at two days
old, she has not looked back. On September 1st,
2011, at just over 6 weeks of age, Zessa was
presented at the Hanoverian foal inspection in
Ontario, Canada. Zessa was the youngest foal
presented but behaved beautifully. She led easily on
and off the trailer and handled an almost four hour
trailer ride without problem. While waiting her turn
in the arena, she ate and slept in the show stall
with her dam. For the inspection, she was, of
course, bathed and braided. She stood very well and
we were very proud of her excellent behaviour.
Photos of Zessa at the inspection are below.
Zessa received very good comments, with the judges
commenting that she was a very well developed filly
with a muscular hind end, which they indicated is
very good for a jumper bred foal. They also said she
had a very good trot, was of very good type and we
were congratulated for presenting a very nice filly.
Zessa’s pedigree is chock full of jumping talent,
with Escudo 1 on her dam line (see
Estevan on the
Broodmares page) and
Landkönig
(see description below).
Landkönig
(Landadel/Landsknecht
(Lasso)/Gotthard) is a
16.3H, bay, elite Hanoverian stallion, 4 socks, a star and snip.
Landkönig completed his 100 day test at Adelheidsdorf as a
three-year-old and was 7th out of 50 with 118.10 points overall
and a 9.5 for stadium jumping, 8's for willingness to work,
character, temperament and the walk. Overall balanced on his
jumping and rideability scores. The
Hannoveraner
Jahrbuch Hengste
2005 lists
Landkönig
with a jumping breeding value of 132 putting him ahead of
Ritual, Drosselklang, Espri, Escudo II, Grosso Z and many other
top German Grand Prix producers.
Landkönig
is in fact the highest rated jumper listed, standing in the U.S.
listed in the 2009 Stallion yearbook with a jumper breed value
of 135 and 140 for ability, slightly higher than super producer
and 2007 stallion of the year Argentinus.
